Having fun on the public airwaves

When Buffalo sports writer Mike Harrington tweeted his epic escape from Winnipeg, I knew it was worth more than just a simple update on our news show . . .

A suggestion that it kinda sounded like the logs of an 18th century British explorer, and a senior producer willing to let us have some fun, resulted in the above bit of audio.

Written by me (with the tweets of @BNHarrington), mixed and presented by Ismaila Alfa, and voiced by Trevor Dineen.

Peat bog update

I'm still slogging it out on the Hecla/Grindstone peat bog doc. I had been waiting for comment from Manitoba NDP Cabinet Minister Gord Maclintosh. Unfortunately I've been told I will have to wait a bit longer for that interview.

In the meantime I have begun cutting the original audio into a 15 minute documentary as part one of the series. In Part two I'll use the Mackintosh interview and some follow-up commentary from Eric Reder of the Manitoba Wilderness Committee.

Look here for the completed doc in the coming week.
